The MIKE TRACY JAZZ ENSEMBLE has been one of Louisville’s premiere jazz groups for over forty years. Having performed in various social and educational settings, this group has considerable experience playing music appropriate for any occasion. The MIKE TRACY JAZZ ENSEMBLE performs classic jazz, originals, and standards, to produce an enjoyable atmosphere which will enhance any event.
Saxophonist Mike Tracy recently retired as Professor of Music at the University of Louisville, where he was the Director of the Jazz Studies Program. In addition, Mike is a Fulbright Senior Specialist, touring and teaching around the world. He has performed throughout the United States, Argentina, Australia, Belize, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Cuba, Denmark, England, Estonia, Germany, Japan, Italy, Kenya, New Zealand, Peru, Poland, Republic of Georgia, Russia, Scotland, Singapore and Wales. His performing career has placed him on stage with such stars as Ella Fitzgerald, Buddy Rich, Ray Charles, Johnny Mathis, Marvin Hamlish, Nancy Wilson, Aretha Franklin, the Four Tops, and the Temptations. He has also played alongside jazz greats as J.J. Johnson, David Liebman, Bobby Shew, Rufus Reid, Pat La Barbera, Jerry Coker, David Baker, Dan Haerle, and Jamey Aebersold. Mike is in great demand as a performer, educator, and clinician.
The MIKE TRACY JAZZ ENSEMBLE is available for your party, reception, or any other function where one desires the best in jazz music. The ensemble can vary from a trio to a quartet, quintet, or a ten-piece band.
